Broke and unemployed, “Jumper” Sirantha Jax accepts a diplomatic mission for the government— only to find herself up against Syndicate criminals, man-eating aliens, and her own grimspaceweakened body.
Oh, I do love this series…
Want a chance to win this book? Comment and answer the question below. I’ll draw a winner tomorrow morning. One entry per person, please.
In keeping with the science fictionish nature of the book, do you believe there’s intelligent life on planets other than earth?
My answer: There has to be, right? It’s hard for me to imagine we have the whole universe to ourselves.
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
I certainly hope there is life out there. It would be very bleak to think we are “alone” in the universe.
by Ann M. September 13th, 2008 at 2:17 amI imagine there are, but they probably won’t want to contact us 😉
Have a lovely day! 🙂
by Tez Miller September 13th, 2008 at 2:48 amthere better be…….cause sometimes i don’t think there is on earth..!!!!! my answer is-yes.
by JACKIE YOUNG September 13th, 2008 at 2:58 amI believe that there is other living beings in this universe, because even though there are people with great imagination somebody must have seen on before. Since alot of aliens look similar if you compare pictures from each decade when aliens were seen.
by Heidi September 13th, 2008 at 4:27 amI believe there is intelligent life on other planets. We can’t be the best there is.
by Shirley September 13th, 2008 at 5:19 amYes, I believe there must be…to think that Earth is the only planet among millions that could support and develop intelligent life is not only arrogant, but rather depressing.
Now…do I want to meet an intelligent being from another world? Hmmmmm…not so sure about that.
by Valerie September 13th, 2008 at 5:30 amDo I think there is other life out there? No. The romantic in me hopes so but in all honesty, I think we’d run into signs of intelligent life if it existed.
by Minerva September 13th, 2008 at 5:57 amGood morning Anya,
Yes, I do there is way to much space out there that hasn’t been explored for there not to be.
Thank you,

Yes, I definitely believe there is life on other planets besides Earth. In such a huge universe it is hard to believe we would be the only living beings existing.
by Shari C September 13th, 2008 at 6:31 amYes, there must be life on other planets and it’s probably more advanced than life here on Earth. Our ventures into space have probably been exceeded many times over by others who are too smart to come here.
by DonnaB September 13th, 2008 at 6:56 amIn keeping with the science fictionish nature of the book, do you believe there’s intelligent life on planets other than earth?
by Diane Sadler September 13th, 2008 at 7:09 amI enjoy all books with a supernatural look: vampires, werewolves and witches etc. so it goes without saying that I believe there is more out there.
Is there intelligent life somewhere?
Maybe. I’m more inclined to think that there might at one time have been intelligent life in other places, but perhaps not now. But I think it’s entirely possible.
by JC September 13th, 2008 at 7:22 amIt’s nice to think that there is life out there somewhere. But will we ever know for sure?
by Maered September 13th, 2008 at 7:40 amI’m still waiting for the little blue F*@kers, as Whitley Strieber called them, to appear. He’s an alien abductee.
I’m not sure if I believe. I’m the kinda person that has to see it to believe it :). But it does seem strange to think we are the only life form floatin around out there on a planet!
by AmyC September 13th, 2008 at 7:41 amI absolutely believe that there is intelligent life on other planets. We know about and have explored only one tiny spec of the universe and what we currently know about the solar system. Makes you wonder if everyone who has a difficult time finding their “soul mate” here on earth has a person on another planet whom they will never meet who would be that one person who would complete them.
by Jen Pieber September 13th, 2008 at 7:51 amhttp://www.owenpieber.blogspot.com
I would like to think that there is. With so many different planets out there I can’t believe we’d be the only ones!
by Teresa W. September 13th, 2008 at 7:54 amI have always thought so. I’ve been a labeled a conceited person, but I think that for anyone to think that we’re the only ones in the entire universe–that big vast blackness that we have barely explored or charted–is the biggest conceit and arrogance. Those are the folks who piss off the wrong species and wreck it for the rest of us.
by Alexandra September 13th, 2008 at 7:59 amI do believe there is intelligent life on other planets and this is why they don’t visit ours! 😆
by Melissa K. September 13th, 2008 at 8:00 amI have to agree with most everyone that there has to be other life in the universe. It is much to big for just us to the only ones.
by Catherine Lemanski September 13th, 2008 at 8:46 amYes, there’s billions and billions of stars out there that we know of and probably a lot we don’t. It seems unlikely that there isn’t any other life somewhere.
by Kammie September 13th, 2008 at 8:59 amI believe it is a possibility that there’s intelligent life on the other planets; however, exactly what kind of intelligent life is out there is debatable.
by Preye September 13th, 2008 at 9:01 amIt would be very egotistical of us to think we were all alone!
by Natasha September 13th, 2008 at 4:10 pm(Please don’t enter me in the drawing, I already have the book–a signed ARC in fact )
Given the size and age of the universe, it’s incontheivable that there would not be (or have been, as the case might be) intelligent life all over the place.
(am I parenthetical today or what?)
by azteclady September 13th, 2008 at 9:13 amI always wondered how we could be the only ones here… so yes, I believe there are others out there!!! 😮
by Colleen September 13th, 2008 at 9:16 amdefine intelligent
Yes I believe there is life out there.
by Larena W September 13th, 2008 at 9:55 amI think it is very possible, but the jury is still out for me.
by Kris September 13th, 2008 at 10:49 amI love this series! I’m so bummed that we’ll have to wait a whole year before the third novel comes out, but Ann Aguirre has a UF novel coming out this winter and I can’t wait to read it.
P.S. Don’t enter me in this contest…I had to get this book as soon as it came out. Unless it’s autographed, then all means put my name in. 😛
by Jackie (Literary Escapism) September 13th, 2008 at 5:54 pmWell – I’ve heard it said that all stories are based upon some reality somewhere. So to keep along with that thinking, their probably is – we just are intelligent enough to determine exactly where.
by Greta September 13th, 2008 at 11:14 amI think there has to be. We can’t be the only planet with intelligent life on it when you know there are millions of planets out there in the universe. There are galaxies that we have yet to even discover, so yeah.
by Mary Kirkland September 13th, 2008 at 11:39 amI do believe there’s intelligent life on other planets.
by Jane September 13th, 2008 at 11:42 amI believe in life on other planets becaue of the following:
In 1961, University of California, Santa Cruz astronomer and astrophysicist Dr. Frank Drake devised the Drake equation. This controversial equation multiplied estimates of the following terms together:
Drake used the equation to scientifically state that there are an estimated 10,000 planets containing intelligent life with the possible capability of communicating with Earth in the Milky Way galaxy.
You can’t really argue with that, now can you?
by Ilona September 13th, 2008 at 11:54 amThere is a lot of available space out there for the earth to be the only inhabited planet.
by Estella September 13th, 2008 at 12:23 pmThere has to be intelligent life out there somewhere. With the vastness of the universe and the millions of planets out there, we can’t be the only life there is.
by Barbara Elness September 13th, 2008 at 1:10 pm🙄Well, out of all the planets, galaxies etc. it doesn’t seem logical that we would be the only beings in the universe.
by Michelle B. September 13th, 2008 at 1:14 pmI would like to think that there is intelligent life out there.
by CrystalGB September 13th, 2008 at 1:21 pmLogically, there just has to be.
Melissa
by Melissa Conatser September 13th, 2008 at 2:06 pmI absolutely think there is!
by Elizabeth M. September 13th, 2008 at 2:41 pmI’m sure there is intelligent life somewhere else. I’ve always thought the Drake equation sounded pretty convincing.
by Jeanette Jackson September 13th, 2008 at 3:26 pmI am of the opinion that there is intelligent life out there, they just are not interested in communicating with us yet.
by Valerie O. September 13th, 2008 at 4:22 pmIf there are an infinite number of galaxies, then the possibilities of other life forms in other galaxies is also infinite. We are not alone!
by Sue A. September 13th, 2008 at 4:31 pmI agree, we can’t be the only planet like this
by Candice September 13th, 2008 at 6:17 pmI can’t believe we’re the only beings in the whole universe either. For all we know some others are already here.
by Pam P September 13th, 2008 at 8:50 pmYes, absolutely. I’m a skeptical person in general, but I think with the number of planets out we are most likely not alone.
