Book of the Day: Blue Diablo, by Ann Aguirre

******THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED*****

blued

Right now, I’m a redhead. I’ve been blonde and brunette as the situation requires, though an unscheduled color change usually means relocating in the middle of the night. So far, I’m doing well here. Nobody knows what I’m running from. And I’d like to keep it that way…

Eighteen months ago, Corine Solomon crossed the border to Mexico City, fleeing her past, her lover, and her “gift”. Corine, a handler, can touch something and know its history—and sometimes, its future. Using her ability, she can find the missing—and that’s why people never stop trying to find her. People like her ex, Chance…

Chance, whose uncanny luck has led him to her doorstep, needs her help. Someone dear to them both has gone missing in Laredo, Texas, and the only hope of finding her is through Corine’s gift. But their search may prove dangerous as the trail leads them into a strange dark world of demons and sorcerers, ghosts and witchcraft, zombies—and black magic…

Web Site

Author bio: Ann is a national bestselling author with three ongoing series. She has a degree in English Literature and a seriously spotty resume. Before she began writing full time, she was a clown, a clerk, a voice actress, and a savior of stray kittens, not necessarily in that order. She grew up in a yellow house across from a cornfield, but now she lives in sunny Mexico with her husband, two children, two cats, and one very lazy dog. She likes books with too much sex and violence, emo music, action movies and Dr. Who. Under her own name, she publishes romantic science fiction and urban fantasy. As Ava Gray, she writes high-octane romances.

Interview Questions:

1.) How did you get started in writing and how long have you been doing it? I’ve wanted to write ever since I learned people could put words together to make stories. At age nine, I wrote my first “book” and I’ve been working at it ever since. That’s nearly 30 years now.

2.) What genres/subgenres are your favorites to write within and do you have any aspirations to write outside your current genres/subgenres. Try something new? I write fantasy, science fiction, and romance, and I’m perfectly content with that.

3.) What are you working on now and what releases do you have coming up?I just finished up SKIN TIGHT, a romance. BLUE DIABLO, an urban fantasy, came out this month. My next release will be DOUBLEBLIND, the third Jax novel, and that comes out September 29.

4.) Anything else you’d like to share? I love hearing from readers! I invite them to get in touch with me via email. Nothing pleases me more than getting a note from someone who liked my book, while I’m working on the next one.

Readers, here is the contest part. Answer this question in the comments to be entered in a drawing for a copy of BLUE DIABLO. Check back to tomorrow for the announcement of the winner. The winner will have until May 5th (that’s the last day of the contest) to contact me in order to collect the prize. This contest IS open to non-US entrants.

Thus far in your life, what do you think is your greatest accomplishment?:

Ann says: Achieving my dream to become a published author.

******* THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED*******

Exile…or love. Life…or death. His demons will force him to choose.

Gunslinger Kincaid has traded his black clothes and pistols for a homespun shirt and trousers. Now he’s Cade Brody, a man with dark hair, dark eyes and an even darker past. The blood money he’s earned bought him a small piece of property in New Mexico territory, at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. But it can’t buy him peace.

Sabrina Edmonds, a tough, no-nonsense widow, runs the post office and store in the small town of Eustace. She’s made her way in life with an independent streak a mile wide. Sabrina doesn’t want to get involved with Cade, but she finds herself drawn to the dark stranger who hides in his mountain retreat.

Cade wants nothing more than to be left alone, but an elusive wild child who delights in tormenting him, and a town full of people determined to befriend him, conspire to intrude upon his self-imposed exile. Then there’s Sabrina, who should be afraid of him—but isn’t.
Not even when the deadly demons of his past catch up with him.

Author Bio:You can’t say cowboys without thinking of Beth Williamson. Her love for all things western shines through in her writing. A true Scorpio, she once described her “word” as passion. Read her work and discover for yourself how hot and enticing a cowboy can be.
Beth is the author many novels and novellas with Samhain Publishing, Loose Id, and Kensington Publishing, with many more in the works for the coming years.

Born and raised in New York, she holds a B.F.A. in writing from New York University. Currently, Beth lives just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband and two sons. She welcomes readers to contact her on her website or by e-mail.

Interview Questions:

1.) How did you get started in writing and how long have you been doing it? I’ve always been a writer, since third grade I think. I finally got up the nerve when I was in my late thirties to actually submit a manuscript to a publisher and was fortunate enough to have my first book published in 2004.

2.) What genres/subgenres are your favorites to write within and do you have any aspirations to write outside your current genres/subgenres. Try something new? Oh, I am known for my sexy westersn—a bit obsessive about the cowboys. *blush* I also write some contemporary erotica, kind of my chocolate after the dinner. 😉

3.) What are you working on now and what releases do you have coming up? Releases coming up include Hell for Leather from Samhain in April, On His Knees (contemporary erotica from Samhain), and the Redemption of Micah from Kensington Brava in July. I am working on several things. The first is the fourth book in my Devils on Horseback series for Samhain – this is Lee’s story, my first one-armed hero. It’s challenging, exciting and wonderful. I’m also working on the second in the Private Lives contemporary erotica novellas – these are all about married/divorced/separated women and how they take charge of their sex lives and their men.

4.) Anything else you’d like to share? I love books. LMAO. Really though, I want to say thanks to all the readers who continue to take chances on us authors. I feel truly lucky to have all that I do and to be able to write what I love.

Readers, here is the contest part. Answer this question in the comments to be entered in a drawing for a copy of HELL FOR LEATHER. Check back to tomorrow for the announcement of the winner. The winner will have until May 5th (that’s the last day of the contest) to contact me in order to collect the prize. This contest IS open to non-US entrants.

Imagine you’re leaving Earth for a faraway place with very different food. What’s the meal you have on the eve of your departure, knowing you’ll never again be able to eat it?:

Beth says: Oh, that’d have to be macaroni and cheese. My favorite food!

Okay, blog readers, now you tell us what YOU would eat.

Book of the Day: Stolen Fury, by Elizabeth Naughton

*****THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED*****

revisedstolenfurycover-1

To unearth a centuries-old secret, an archaeologist must team up with the rakish thief who’s stolen both an ancient relic and her heart…

Oh, is he handsome. And charming. And sexy as all get out. Dr. Lisa Maxwell isn’t the type to go home with a guy she barely knows. But, hey, this is Italy and the red-blooded Rafe Sullivan seems much more enticing than cataloging a bunch of dusty artifacts.

After being fully seduced, Lisa wakes to an empty bed and, worse yet, an empty safe. She’s staked her career as an archaeologist on collecting the three Furies, a priceless set of ancient Greek reliefs. Now the one she had is gone. But Lisa won’t just get mad. She’ll get even.

She tracks Rafe to Florida, and finds the sparks between them blaze hotter than the Miami sun. He may still have her relic, but he’ll never find all three without her. And they’re not the only ones on the hunt. To beat the other treasure seekers, they’ll have to partner up—because suddenly Lisa and Rafe are in a race just to stay alive.

You can find Elizabeth:

Web Site

Author bio: Elisabeth Naughton writes both sexy romantic adventures and paranormals for Dorchester. Her debut, STOLEN FURY, was a January 2009 release and a 2007 Golden Heart Finalist in Romantic Suspense. The next two books in her Stolen Trilogy are scheduled to release in August 2009 and January 2010, respectively, followed by an all new paranormal adventure series which will hit store shelves May 2010. A former junior high science teacher, Elisabeth loves to travel and is always on the lookout for the next great adventure.

Interview Questions:

1.) How did you get started in writing and how long have you been doing it? I started writing in early 2003 after leaving my teaching job and have been writing now for just over six years.

2.) What genres/subgenres are your favorites to write within and do you have any aspirations to write outside your current genres/subgenres. Try something new? A year ago I would have answered simply – Romantic Suspense – my first and only genre love. But that has changed. While I never had any intention of writing anything else, an idea for a new paranormal series hit me out of the blue last year and it was one of those books I couldn’t *not* write. Luckily, my editor loved the new idea as much as she loves my suspense novels. I’m now writing in both genres, with books scheduled to release in both RS and paranormal in the next two years. While both series have similarities, they’re different enough to tax two different parts of my creative mind, which is always fun. At this point I can’t name any other genre I’m planning to delve into, but as I learned last year…never say never.

3.) What are you working on now and what releases do you have coming up? Right now I’m putting together a new adventure proposal for my agent, and when that’s finished I’m diving into the second Eternal Guardians book (the new paranormal series). The first Eternal Guardians book – MARKED – is scheduled to release in May 2010, with the second to follow shortly thereafter. Other releases I have coming up: The second Stolen book – STOLEN HEAT – releases July 28, 2009. This is Pete’s book, and I’m very excited about it. It’s a reunion story, and I absolutely love reunion books. The third and final Stolen book – STOLEN SEDUCTION – hits shelves January 2010. This last book is Shane’s book, but the characters from the first two books show up as well, so it’s very fun and a little bittersweet.

4.) Anything else you’d like to share?

BEING BULLET PROOF SUCKS—LITERALLY

Once, Maya Black was a kick-ass cop patrolling the streets of L.A. She still keeps the city safe, but nowadays her bad guys of choice include demons, werewolves, and assorted nocturnal scum. Something Maya knows a thing or two about. She’s a vampire—and not thrilled about it. Payback meet bitch.

Adam Brody hopes Maya is as dangerous as they say she is. He needs her to help rescue his niece Cammie from a ruthless band of vamps, and he’s willing to pay—in blood. Trusting her is another matter. Adam has never met a vampire who doesn’t lie. Then again, he’s never met anyone like Maya, who fills him with a desperate need that ignites into explosive, no-holds-barred encounters…

Where you can find Cynthia:

Web site

Author bio: Award-winning author Cynthia Eden writes tales of paranormal romance and romantic suspense. Her publishers include Kensington Brava, Grand Central, Avon Red, Red Sage, and ImaJinn Books. Cynthia loves reading romance books, watching scary movies, and making up stories for a living.

Interview Questions:

1.) How did you get started in writing and how long have you been doing it? I’ve always wanted to write (I know—most writers say that, right?) I wrote my first book when I was 18—and I won’t even say how many years ago that was! I sold to ImaJinn Books, a small paranormal press in 2004, and I’ve been writing pretty much constantly since then.

2.) What genres/subgenres are your favorites to write within and do you have any aspirations to write outside your current genres/subgenres. Try something new? I absolutely love writing paranormal romance. Love it—and I hope I’ll always be able to write my stories about monsters and magic. But, as I was writing my paranormal tales for Kensington Brava, I realized something—I had just as much fun writing about the suspense elements as I did the supernatural plotlines. So, yes, I’m going to write outside my current genre.  I’ve recently been offered a contract to write straight romantic suspenses (no monsters!) for Grand Central Publishing. My plan is to write both my paranormals and my romantic suspense stories—I just hope readers like them!

3.) What are you working on now and what releases do you have coming up? IMMORTAL DANGER, my latest paranormal romance (with a strong focus on vampires) releases on 3/31/09. I’ll have another paranormal release on June 30th—MIDNIGHT’S MASTER, the last book in my Midnight trilogy will be published by Kensington Brava I’m currently working on the second book in my romantic suspense series. This series is about the SSD—the Serial Services Division in the FBI. My agents track and apprehend serials (rapists, killers, arsonists). This particular story is very gritty and dark and I am having a great time with the characters.

4.) Anything else you’d like to share? I appreciate you taking the time to interview me, Anya! Thanks! And thank you to all of the readers who have written to me about my stories! I always love to hear from people who have read my books. Thank you!

Readers, here is the contest part. Answer this question in the comments to be entered in a drawing for a copy of IMMORTAL DANGER. Check back to tomorrow for the announcement of the winner. The winner will have until May 5th (that’s the last day of the contest) to contact me in order to collect the prize. This contest IS open to non-US entrants.

You have to leave this planet/reality. What world/alternate reality from a book/TV series/movie do you choose to relocate in and why?:

Cynthia says: Hmmm…tough question. Okay, I choose to relocate to a “galaxy far, far away.” Why? Two words: Han Solo. I will fly on the Millennium Falcon with that man any day. Or night.

Okay, blog readers, now you tell us where YOU would relocate.

Book of the Day: Stranger, by Megan Hart

*****THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED*****

stranger1

I pay strangers to sleep with me. I have my reasons…

But they’re not the ones you expect. For starters, I’m a funeral director taking over my dad’s business. Not exactly the sort of person you’d expect to fork over cash for the lust and urgency only live, skin-to-skin contact can create. Looking at me, you wouldn’t have a clue I carry this little secret so close it creases up like the folds of a fan. Tight. Personal. Ready to unravel in the heat of the moment.

Unsurprisingly, my line of work brings me face to face with loss. So I decided long ago that paying for sex would be one of the best (and arousing) ways to save myself from the one thing that would eventually cut far too deep.

But Sam was a mistake. Literally. I signed on to “pick up” a stranger at a bar, but took Sam home instead. And now that I’ve felt his heat, his sweat and everything else can I really go back to impersonal?

Let’s just hope he never finds out about my other life…

Joint Blog

Author Bio: I was born and I lived awhile and did some stuff, and then some other things happened. Finally, I finished with that and started something else, and in 2007 my first book with Spice came out. It was called Dirty. Now I do things and write about stuff and spend some time attempting to achieve accomplishments, but mostly I like to hang around and spend my time doing whatnot and things.

Interview Questions:

1.) How did you get started in writing and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been writing ever since I could and decided to make a full-time go of it, officially, in 1998 when I became a stay-home mom.

2.) What genres/subgenres are your favorites to write within and do you have any aspirations to write outside your current genres/subgenres. Try something new? I really love fantasy and science fiction and would really love to write a horrifyingly terrifying horror novel someday. I’ve written fantasy and SF and would love to keep doing that. I got started with historical romance because I loved it so much, but I prefer to write contemporary, and I suppose I prefer to keep the bedroom door open rather than closed.

3.) What are you working on now and what releases do you have coming up? Right now I’m working on edits, edits, edits, but next on my plate is my third Order of Solace novel which will come out from Berkley Sensation sometime in 2010. I’ll have two Order of Solace novels, which are historical fantasy, sensual romance, out in the fall of 2009. I’ll also have my next release from Spice, DEEPER, which is a contemporary erotic paranormal novel (phew, what a mouthful) and that comes out in July.

Readers, here is the contest part. Answer this question in the comments to be entered in a drawing for a copy of STRANGER. Check back to tomorrow for the announcement of the winner. The winner will have until May 5th (that’s the last day of the contest) to contact me in order to collect the prize.

Tell us about one of your obsessions:

Megan says: Just one? Bah! Well, I’d have to say that right now Supernatural is my obsession. I love that show with the passionate fire of ten thousand fiery suns. It just keeps getting better and better and better. I love it so much I want to bake it pie and do its laundry.

Okay, blog readers, now you tell us about one of YOUR obsessions.
