The winner of yesterday book, WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS…AFTER DARK, is Emily T., who said, “My best vacation was a road trip from california to minnesota, when I was 17… I went with my parents and brother, we had a blast!…”

If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
Depending on the amount won, I’d help out my family with mortgages etc first. Then my Dad and I have both dreamed of visiting Hawaii, so that one would be a must too. On a personal level, I’d love to buy a larger house, so that I could have the library of my dreams… imagine all those beautiful books, a real fireplace and a cosy sofa… bliss. ;o)
by Anita Williams May 29th, 2011 at 6:21 amIf I won the lottery I would open my own book store. I’ve always wanted to run my own business and a book store would be perfect for me.
by StacieDM May 29th, 2011 at 6:25 amHi
If I won the lottery I would travel around the US and play as many golf courses as I could.
Thanks
by Pam B May 29th, 2011 at 6:44 amDepending on how much I won I would buy myself a new house and probably buy a new house for my parents – one that would suit them better as they age. I would also invest some money in a new business my sister has started. I would donate to my favorite charities and set up college funds for my nieces and nephews…..I would give my sisters some money to take care of their bills and then after all of that was done if there was still money left over, I would invest it and continue to donate to different charities and probably give good size donations to my public library to help buy more books for kids
by Maria D. May 29th, 2011 at 7:20 amFirst I’d hire a home healthcare taker for myself. That way my mom would finally get a break from helping me! (I’m a quadripalegic due to a car accident)
by Susan C May 29th, 2011 at 7:22 amNext I would get a new van. The one I have now is a 1990.
I would then order all of the books I have on my wish list. 😀
My mom and I have actually talked about this and we couldn’t think of anything we want, need or change. So most of what was left I would give to charities.
Well I would help my family and some close friends with whatever the needed,I would put money away for my Daughters college and if I had any money left would travel the US and Europe…boy what a dream..but dreams do come true.
by Wendy Higgins May 29th, 2011 at 7:30 amRemodel the house to include an in-home library and tons of storage 🙂
by Fedora May 29th, 2011 at 7:47 amI would buy a house.I hate renting.
by Wendy Tranah May 29th, 2011 at 8:26 amIt would depend on how much I got. If it was enough, I would buy a house and stop renting, then pay off my daughters house for her, then our vehicles, etc. Still money left? College trust fund for grandkids. After that it depends again on how much is left. I’d probably invest in something if there was enough. If after all that I still was “filty rich” I’d want to travel to all the places I’ve always wanted to see, while buying and reading all the books I want 🙂
by Betty Lewis May 29th, 2011 at 8:35 ami would open my own bookstore, and buy myself new bookshelfs, and buy more books
by minhchieu tran May 29th, 2011 at 8:46 amI would buy a house for my family and then I would go on a world tour to see all the amazing places that I read about in books!!!
by Tanya M. May 29th, 2011 at 9:02 amI think of this all the time.
If I was to win a huge jackpot like Power ball my husband could quit work and open his own business. I would put a new roof on the house. I would buy some horses. I haven’t had horses since I was a teenager but they are expensive to take care of.
by Gigi Hicks May 29th, 2011 at 9:20 amI would start taking nice vacations. Since I haven’ t had any kind of vacation in over 10 years.
If I won the lottery I would split the winnings with my siblings. Then I would buy a new car and take my family on a once in a lifetime vacation to Alaska.
by ChrisS May 29th, 2011 at 9:48 amI would share with my parents, get my sister a car, and travel to Ireland! 😀
by Colleen May 29th, 2011 at 9:58 amIf I won the lottery I would travel the world before buying a house big enough to hold all my books.
by Casey H May 29th, 2011 at 10:23 amI would love to pay off my boys’ student loans, move my Mom and Dad into a retirement community near the beach, and take a European vacation with my entire family.
by Cathy MacDonald May 29th, 2011 at 10:58 amWell the first thing I thought was how much lottery money are we talking about here?
But since this is imaginary, I choose to imagine that I would win a crapload of money!
by Rae M. May 29th, 2011 at 11:18 amSo I’d buy a new house with a lot of land and with a library to hold all my newly purchased books from my book buying spree!
I’d definitely travel to all the places that I’ve ever wanted to go.
And because I’m a sucker for animals I’d say I’d end up helping animals with charities and whatever menagerie that ended up living with me.
(That is in addition to the menagerie I already have!). 😀
First I would buy me and my family our own place, a house that has enough rooms for each boy to have their own room and then a room for me to make into a library. Then games and stuff for the boys. I would have to save some back since well my oldest is soon to be 13 they grow up quick
by Raonaid Luckwell May 29th, 2011 at 12:20 pmI would buy a house for my parents and for myself. I might go on a Mediterranean cruise and invest the rest.
by Jane May 29th, 2011 at 12:23 pmIf I won the lottery I would buy a new home and vehicles, give money to my parents and my siblings.
by CrystalGB May 29th, 2011 at 12:33 pmIf I won the lottery, the first thing I’m doing is finishing college. Then, I would get my mother a house if that was what she wanted. If I have any left over at that point, the rest is going into a savings account.
by Zuradia Worrell May 29th, 2011 at 12:57 pmIf I won the lottery? Tough question.
Well My mom and I have been wanting to get another dog or cat but our landlord has a very strict no pets allowed policy.
We’re also in need of a “new” car so if I won the lottery I’d either use it for a house that allows pets or I’d use it as a down payment for a new car for my mom.
If there’s anything left after that I’d probably use what’s left to pay off some of my school loans. That’s also a big must!
Thanks for the contest!
by Gabrielle J. May 29th, 2011 at 1:48 pmFirstly, it would depend on the amount.
I have a large family…eleven kids in all…so a million or so wouldn’t last long..hehe!!
I would love to see all my family taen care of and not needing to work so hard for their living.
Valerie
by Valerie May 29th, 2011 at 1:53 pmin Germany
First off I would pay off my debts and fix up the house some. If there was anything left I would take the family on a once in a lifetime vacation
by Mandy B May 29th, 2011 at 2:16 pmthe first thing i would do would be to pay some bills, then i would make sure all of my brothers and sisters had a home of their own paid in full and that my parents each had their homes paid off. after that i would open a home for teen run aways that would give them a safe place to go and get them the help they need and get them in touch with the services that can provide it.for example dept. human services, mental health, low income housing,etc..this would be a way to help get them off the streets and make them feel safe and to let them know that people do still care.
by tammy ramey May 29th, 2011 at 2:28 pmWell, mine isn’t exciting or anything. I would most likely end up putting all of it in the bank. The interest from it would go towards helping my brother that has medical issues or towards my own daughters medical bills. Boring I know but it’s what I would do.
by brooke May 29th, 2011 at 3:43 pmThank you!
by Emily Tardy May 29th, 2011 at 4:19 pmI would buy lot of land somewhere out in the woods in a small rown and buy my parents, grandparenrs, sister, and myself a new house of our own. Buy some more land and start a rcetrack/trails for atvs. Buy a few jeeps for rock crawlin and muddin. New vehiclew for everyone paid off and pay ofmost housing bills. Take family vacations everyyear. Buy lots of books. I would like to start a restruant or store of some sort. And everytying else i would buy for family and idk whqt else i would do
by Asheleigh Deramo May 29th, 2011 at 4:39 pmIf I won the lottery, I’d pay off any debt, get this house we’re living in paid off, put away some money for savings and sons college, do some remodeling to the house and yard, and find a way for hubby to be able to quit his job, or at least work less hours so we can still generate income.
by Nikki Barrett May 29th, 2011 at 5:45 pmPay off my student loans, go on a fabulous vacation(Australia), build a house, fix up my family’s home. Invest and support my favorite charities.
by Miranda May 29th, 2011 at 5:46 pmBuy a house and help family.
by MaryC May 29th, 2011 at 6:19 pmFirst, my family has agreed we would share it if it is a big lottery like Powerball
by Jen B. May 29th, 2011 at 6:49 pmSecond, we would not tell anyone
Third, we would hire the right people to help us invest and make the correct legal documents
Planning makes perfect!
I’d buy land and build a house. Not sure exactly where, though.
by Leni May 29th, 2011 at 6:56 pmI’ve actually been thinking about this as I play Megamillion. I would do a few projects around the house, take my family on a nice vacation, visit family I haven’t seen for a while. But with all the natural disasters happening recently, I would find a way to help out families tha have been devastated, particularly by those unbelievable tornados!
by Diane Sallans May 29th, 2011 at 7:01 pmIf I won the lottery I would…
by Emily Tardy May 29th, 2011 at 7:03 pmStart house hunting, but while hunting I would give my parents some money, help make much needed home repairs, buy my sister a car, school clothes for my nieces and nephew, start a college fund for all the little ones in the family, and of course look for a new car before ours breaks down! That’s what I would (TRY) to do. Of course money never stetches very far
I would travel, buy a house and car, give some to all of my family, and go back to school.
by Danielle Gorman May 29th, 2011 at 7:30 pmBuy a house and build a library in that house. Travel around a bit and then have a baby and buy my parents a car
by Kristina Ebert May 29th, 2011 at 7:41 pmI think that having that much money all at once would be really hard. I would love to be able to travel more, but I think I would still have to work or I would go crazy! It would be nice to not have to worry about big things like paying for the kids college, but it would also be a big responsibility.
by Joylyn May 29th, 2011 at 8:19 pmFirst would be quit my job! I would rather do something I would enjoy. Working in a book store would be great. 🙂
by JoAnna B May 29th, 2011 at 8:37 pmOf course, I would pay off the bills, put money aside to college for the kids. Invest for the my future and possibly do some traveling. Boy I hope I win a lot in that lottery.
If I won the lottery…. I’d pay off all the college tuition by kids seem to rack up!! (oh, maybe buy a new car if there was any spare change left… that would be a big IF!) LOL
Dottie 🙂
by Dottie May 29th, 2011 at 9:37 pmThere are two things that I would do with the money if I won the lottery.
by Lauren V May 29th, 2011 at 9:45 pm1) I would help my parents move into a single family home. It’s my mother’s dream and I would love to be part of that.
2) I would finish paying for college. I feel guilty that I can’t pay for all of it and I would like to help out being able to do it myself.
OMG, this question is so funny because one of my biggest fantasy is winning a huge lottery jackpot lol So when I’m blessed to win it, I will immediately thank God, pay tithes/donate portion to charity, pay off student loans (for whole family), pay off house notes (for whole family), split the left over funds into sections: for paying off taxes on the win, for giving to family members, for giving to close friends, and for investment towards the future (e.g. setting up my own firm, buying land, stock, bonds, etc.). If there is still a good portion available, then I would fulfill another fantasy by owning homes in a few of my favorite countries.
by Preye May 29th, 2011 at 10:35 pmI suppose that would depend on how big a lottery it was. My first goal would be paying off my student loans and finishing college. After that I’d like to travel some then maybe see if my area could support an indie bookstore or try my hand at baking.
by Lauren May 30th, 2011 at 12:24 amI’d pay off my kids college, invest most of it, give to local food banks, and buy hubs a car ;).
by Viki S. May 30th, 2011 at 12:29 amBuy a generous piece of land on the Sunshine Coast, QLD AUSTRALIA & build my absolute dream of an eco-house. Self sufficient for power, water and eventually a sustainable garden. One day!!
by Mary Preston May 30th, 2011 at 1:22 amI would buy myself a flat/house and then pay for some exotic travels for my family: we’d go to Latin America and see the Aztec, Mayan, Inca ruins in Peru, Columbia, Mexico. 😛 That is my dream destination, but the trip is so expensive.
Thank you for the great giveaway!
