Just FYI —
I love Gail Dayton’s series originally published by Luna. The Compass Rose and The Barbed Rose are the first two books. So I was very, very bummed when Luna decided not published the third book in the trilogy — The Eternal Rose.
Luckily Juno Books picked up the third and it’s out next month! You can pre-order it at Amazon.com now.
Just spreading the word. I already have my copy ordered. 🙂
Can I rant about publishers who do this? Drop a person midway through a series?
Even if the publisher’s losing money on the series and sales aren’t good enough (whatever that means), the fans of the series — even if there’s only one — deserve to read it to its conclusion, especially if it was pitched as a three-book series, for example.
Maybe we need some new publishing models or deals where it’s okay to walk in with a three-book series and to get a commitment on all three being published. What would happen if it takes three books for this author to get wider notice? Isn’t that a risk worth taking, especially if that wider notice demands a second (or more) print run?
But in the meantime, kudos to Juno for picking up where someone else stepped back.

Susan — I don’t know the circumstances behind what happened. As a fan of the books, I know I was all meh 🙁 when I heard about it.

by Daniel July 7th, 2007 at 6:21 pmI was just reading your blog and thought you may be interested in a new site we’ve just started for authors. If you have the time, the address is http://www.feelswrite.com
Thank you.
I like well written books 🙂 Genre doesn’t matter all that much to me. I’ll read anything that’ll grab my attention and/or imagination.
Thanks for the recommendation!
