My husband and I finally saw the movie 300 last night. Yeah, I know. But we’ve got a baby at home so our days of jaunting to the theater to watch the latest flick are long gone.

Wow. Has anyone seen this movie? There was no body fat anywhere in the whole thing. I know because I looked. Er, a lot. Because, uhm, drool. I guess when I leaned over and told my husband I could feel myself ovulating just watching these actors he might not have appreciated it much. Heh.
And when they marched off to war, it was a full on man titty parade! I had to stop myself from fumbling for the remote control to pause and zoom in, (again with the non-husbandly appreciation).
Yeah, so, I might get it on dvd.
Ahem.
Aside from the exceptional eye candy, I liked the movie for other reasons. See, I am fully aware that I have the theatrical tastes of an adolescent boy. I will watch any movie that is based on a comic book character, no matter how bad it might be. (With the exception of Superman. He just doesn’t do it for me). My favorite by far is The Punisher. I absolutely love that one. It’s Frank Miller flick, btw, just like 300.
I loved the supernatural aspects of the movie. How the film felt not like your regular historical movie, but something with a paranormal edge. That owed, of course, to the fact the movie is based on a graphic novel. It felt like a graphic novel.
So, tell me, seen any good movies lately? Anything you want to tell me about? I love a good film…even if they do make me want to immediately start exercising once the credits roll, (don’t worry, the impulse faded pretty quickly. I didn’t damage my perfect non-exercising track record).
Gerard Butler. Yum. 😀
by Carolan Ivey August 27th, 2007 at 9:31 pmYup, I could watch that one daily. Besides the abs, I love the one-liners, the swordfights set to metal, and that scene where he cuts the guys head off and doesn’t quite make it all the way through; you see the flesh of the back of his neck rip as his skull topples from his torso. Oh, man!
Sin City, too. There’s another graphic novel flick where you can actually see the frames of the comic as they pass on the screen. The romantic sub-plot steals the show for me, in it though.
Oh, And have you seen American Psycho?? Somewhat more cerebral, but brilliant nonetheless.
by Seeley deBorn August 27th, 2007 at 2:34 pmI am still in the minorty of females who hasn’t seen the movie yet, I know, what am I waiting for?!!! Thanks for the heads up on The Punisher, will add that little gem to my list too.
by cathy August 27th, 2007 at 10:44 pmOh, I loved this! The hubby and I watched it on DVD a few weekends ago… yikes! What a terrific bunch of abs… I mean, actors! 😉
Honestly, I’m a comic-book-turned-into-movie junkie too. And 300 was excellent. I also loved the paranormal aspects, it really gave it that extra edge. The fight scenes were awesome. The hubby and I watched a Spartan documentary about a month before watching 300, so it was cool to compare that with the movie. 🙂 The movie I watched before that was Ghost Rider. This was a total disappointment. But Spider-Man 3 was excellent!
We don’t go to the movies that often either, but we did watch Transformers and the latest Harry Potter movie. Both totally AWESOME!
Have a great day!
by Yolanda August 28th, 2007 at 9:03 pmoooh. just one more reason to go and see it.
-alas, i have not seen it, and it not for a not wanting to see it, because I DO want to see it, I just can’t seem to find the time. I have heard that it is really bloody and gorey but it is filmed so well that you can hardly tell.
there is one movie that i did get to go and see and based upon your “theatrical tastes of an adolescent boy” you would really like it. Superbad.
it is all sex jokes, crude humor, and just freakingly funny!
by dorkybarb August 29th, 2007 at 2:22 pmmy vote is go!
I love this movie! I have the DVD and it totally rocks! definitely one of those films where you just need to get the DVD of it.
by wendy August 29th, 2007 at 2:33 pmIt’s abtastic. I love the movie with all my heart. Sigh…
by Lauren August 30th, 2007 at 2:49 amI haven’t watched 300 yet but it’s on my list of movies to rent some day lol
by Erin the Innocent August 30th, 2007 at 3:44 amYep, I saw it and am going to own it eventually. Visual eye-candy at its best!
by N.J. Walters August 30th, 2007 at 11:04 amI adored that movie. I saw it at midnight of that release day – and was 1 of 2 females in a theater of about 500 people. While the eye candy was wonderful-lovely, I also loved the stylized fight scenes. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
