Today’s book….

A sultry dream can become a real-life nightmare…

Tax consultant Charlotte Bennett isn’t the type to lose control. Until she’s seduced in a dream by a handsome, rugged man named Kieran. In her dream state, she decides to let loose, letting pleasure and desire lead the way. But she quickly discovers her “safe” night of passion has dangerous repercussions.

The lust-driven dream was in fact a magick illusion that’s left Charlotte indefinitely bound to a controlling fae named Kieran. Under his order, she must find the last piece of a powerful relic. Only Charlotte knows the location of the bosca fadbh, but the knowledge is hidden deep within her bloodline—and only wicked magick can draw it out.

Forced to work with the enticing Kieran, she finds it hard to escape their seductive chemistry. Even though he’s harboring a deadly curse, one that puts Charlotte in danger—and could make this attraction fatal…

Publisher’s Weekly about Dark Enchantment: “a sexy thrill ride…with dastardly betrayals, complex subplots, and skillful world building… Bast’s writing packs a punch, offering humorous lines even in the blackest moments….the tale weaves a sinuous spell that will leave readers eager for more.”

This series features Gideon P. Amberdoyal, the best villain I think I have ever written. I LOVE HIM. He’s creepy, conflicted, highly intelligent, and deeply disillusioned. He’s a layered character with emotional depth. Above all, he is a bad man doing bad things for reasons that he perceives are good. Tell me, what qualities do you like best in the bad guys you read?

  1. i like when they have some honor, yes they do bad thing but they believe they are rights and they stil maintain a form of honor( not necessary the same as the good guy but still)

  2. If the bad guys do a creepy and frightening scenes that make me want to puke, hate but admire him at the same time, that’s the best qualities I search. Others is he’s not one dimensional and his act not laughable

  3. i like it when the bad guy does bad things but for the right reasons

  4. when they change after they got their right women that he really love, i like that moment and i think bad guys have a place in heart 😉

  5. I like bad guys attitudes… no care or worries. If they only had something worth caring about. Okay wishful thinking… lol can’t change somebody but can try.

  6. I like bad guys to get a shot at redemption at some point, that is most of the time. Sometimes the bad guy just needs to be the bad guy.

  7. I like a bad guy that has the possibility of redemption eventually later on in a series. But, I also like a villain that is so twisted, death is the only answer. Depends on my mood at the time

  8. I like bad guys with bad attitudes, doing bad things, but deep down has a soft heart just searching for love!

  9. Bad boys are the guys who do bad things with the right intentions. They have soft spots for puppies and girls in distress. 😉

  10. A great villian is definitely on the crazy side – which makes their plans risky but hard to figure out. Also, egotistical and a sense of humor.

  11. I like them to not realize how bad they are, that the end justifies their means, that they have just that focus and intelligence to do so. When they are capable for such evil without knowing it because their goal, no matter how wrong it might be is true to them. Redemption is not necessary, nor is a lesson in that behavior, sometimes its good to see them in another book still ignorant to their behavior. I also like it when they are attractive.

  12. I like bad guys that keep you guessing… that are dark and dangerous…

  13. I like bad guys who are ruthless and cold-hearted. So when they perish, I won’t feel sad!

  14. I like the bad guys that you never know what they are going to do, are they going to have that bit of humanity or are they cold and ruthless.

  15. I like bad guys with some sort of redemptive quality – especially if it causes them to change during the course of the story.

  16. I like bad guys that are unpredictable and see the ends justifies the means. It’s kinda fun when later in the series we find something redeeming about them, kinda like Lothaire in Kresley Cole’s series.

  17. I love it when no matter how bad the guy is he protects his woman fiercely.

  18. I like when the bad guy falls for the girl & then changes to be the best he can be for her. And finds that he likes himself better in the process.–Rachel

  19. I love a bad guy who has no remorse and is beyond evil. He should delight in it. 👿

  20. I like bag guys who just don’t give a sh*t To hell with the consequences and everyone else. A man with nothing to lose. It gives them and edge.

  21. lol bad guys lol I wrote bag hehe

  22. I love a bad guy whose pure evil. No redeeming for him. Cause come on if your gonna be bad. May as well be the best baddie there is. 🙂

  23. I like a bad guy with hidden depths, who could easily become the good guy with the right incentive. Plus bad guys redeemed in upcoming stories are very entertaining.

  24. I love the bad guy who throws caution to the wind and lives as though it is his last days….. until he meets “the” woman. After he meets “her”, he does all he can to capture her heart or her body. lol I really like the dark, intense, brooding bad boys.

  25. They have to be suspencful and willing to do what ever it takes if they r abd they need to have some redeemable qualities and ofcourse believability if theyr bad they n eed to be bad not a whishywashy bad where theyr bad for a minute then regretful the next honestly I love diabolical characters that show no remorse in anything they do the meaner they are the more i like them

  26. I like when the bad guys have a really good hidden reason for being bad and they are so alpha it’s not funny. Then later on in the series they meet that one woman who will change them into the good guy. They are sooooo yummy.

  27. I like bad guys that have a redeeming quality about that. He’s not just a bad guy with no morals.

  28. What makes a good villian to me is one that is ruthless, cunning and you love to hate him.

  29. Bad guys with crazy attitudes, tough, cold-hearted and ruthless. Then when a woman comes into the picture, it throws him off-course and his inner soul reveals his soft side.

  30. I like that he does his own thing and doesn’t answer to anyone, intelligent, and a little bit underhanded.

  31. I like bad guys who are bad. The super intelligent, cunning, thinks he’s right all the time, nemisis of the ‘good guys’. Who has the most riskiest, world dominating plans that almost win!

  32. I like the bad guys who are good deep down yet still remain bad when necessary.

  33. Intelligent and devious. But I have to admit, I kind of like when he may show a softer side towards a woman.

  34. I like bad guys to have arrogance and attitude. I also enjoy them with a touch of vulnerability.

  35. Bad guys should be smart. They should be truly bad. They shouldn’t be moustache twirling cartoons. I want them to be hard to stop so that the hero and heroine really have to work for it.

  36. Bad guys are cool if they have the confidence to pull off their tough attitude and if they have that touch of humility and respect for family and friends. Add in their protective alpha instincts and intelligence–then those combined qualities really make them top notch!

  37. I like them to be so good at being bad that no one would think they are bad. They are devious, conniving, and a little bit crazy.

  38. I think the most fascinating bad guys are the ones who not only are convinced they are right, they are pretty convincing about it. Eeek!

  39. Brr…nice chilling excerpt

  40. A villain who isn’t pure evil. They’re still human, yeah, and are driven by understandable, if not justifiable, reasons. Just believable, I guess, just like all the other characters in the book!

  41. This might be too late for the contest, but I like villians who arent just the stereotypical bad guy that you can spot a mile away. I want them to be a little bit of a surprise, and I like it when there is a good reason behind the bad.

  42. I like the bad guys to have emotion. I love to look at them and try to understand them.I also want them to have loyalty and strength and a reason was to why they fight for what they do.

  43. I like to see why the bad guy thinks there is no other way to accomplish his goals.
