Book of the Day: When He was Bad

When He was Bad, by Cynthia Eden and Shelly Laurenston

Two of paranormal romance’s bestselling authors combine their extraordinary talents and set the pages on fire with an after-dark anthology featuring Alpha males so hot, so wild, and so bad, they may just be the best you’ve ever had…

Shelly Laurenston, Miss Congeniality —

It’s those damn stockings that get me every time. They have this sexy little line down the back and I can’t help but stare at her legs-constantly. And you’d think she’d be all over me like every other female in the Seattle area. I’m young, good looking, and one day I’ll be Alpha Male of my family’s Pack. But Professor Irene Conridge acts like I don’t even exist. How is that possible? Now she’s got enemies coming out of the woodwork and I have to protect her. Why? Because that’s the kind of man I am. Yes, I am that amazing. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that while I work to secure her safety, she’ll be hanging out at my house. That’s hours-days even that I’ve got Irene Conridge right where I want her.

Cynthia Eden, Wicked Ways —

I’m too dangerous for her. I know it, but I can’t get my sexy new neighbor out of my head. When I hear her scream one night, the absolute last thing I expect to see is Miranda Shaw-star of my hottest fantasies-being attacked by a vampire. Now the undead jerk is after her, and I’m the only thing standing between the beautiful lady and a killer who just won’t stop. Well, too bad for him, because that vamp has just made the worst mistake of his afterlife-he’s tangled with a shifter. And Miranda, well, she’s so busy watching out for him that she won’t see me closing in on her-not until it’s too late-and I’m about to show her just how wild I can get.

My answer: White sand beach, warm blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, margarita in my hand and my husband at my side. Oh, and I’d be deadline free.

Do you have a remarkable phobia? Does your phobia have a large impact on your life?
Or do you have any odd nervous habits?

My answer: I used to have a fear of tornadoes that was so bad a mere watch would make me have panic attacks. Then last January (yes, January), one side-swiped our house and almost took off the roof. Now my fear is gone. Weird, huh?

Winner of Hell Kat, by Vivi Anna

The winner of yesterday’s book, Hell Kat, is Rebekah E! Congrats! Please drop me a note with your snail mail via the contact form on my site. 🙂

Vivi Anna’s Nocturne Veiled Truth comes out TODAY, btw! I’ll be picking that one up this afternoon.

Good luck in today’s contest everyone! My husband asked me this morning when are these contests going to end? Heh. (He’s the guy who picks the winners.) SOON! Next Tuesday, to be exact. I’ve had a lot of fun with this, though, and I’ll probably do it again in the future. You guys rock!

Some folks listed me in their answers yesterday, so I feel like I should answer the questions. LOL.

Q: I was wondering if you ever thought about writing in a completely different genre (other than paranormal)?

A: I do occasionally write non-paranormal contemporary. Very occasionally. Edge of Sweetness (Ellora’s Cave) is one example. Also my novella The Deal in the Harlequin Spice anthology What Happens in Vegas is non-paranormal contemporary. Honestly, though, paranormal (in all its various forms) pretty much has my heart. 🙂

~*~

Q: Would you guide an aspiring author and help them finish their book?

A: I would enjoy helping out any aspiring author, however I’ve been advised not to weigh in on unpublished author’s WIPs. It’s just not a good idea for a host of reasons. But keep writing if you’re working on a novel. Just do it. Finishing that first one is most of the battle. I know it sounds trite (but it’s true), perseverance pays off.

There are a multitude of crit loops out there to join too. Finding a crit partner (or partners) is highly advisable for any author. Crit loops and my local RWA chapter were both HUGE helps to me when I was starting out.

~*~

Q: How do you come up with your book ideas? (Two people asked a variation of this question)

A: Honestly, I don’t really know. It all starts with a seed. I’ll think, “Wouldn’t it be cool if….” Or “I’d really like to write a character that…” and it all spirals out from there. Sometimes it’s just an opening scene, something stuck in my head. It’s a mysterious process.

Coincidentally with the whole Q and A thing, I have an interview up at Bitten by Books today (goes up at 8:00 am PDT). There’s also a chance to win an autographed copy of The Chosen Sin.

Book of the Day: Magical Seduction

Magical Seduction, by Cathryn Fox, Mandy M Roth, and Anya Bast

Witches, werewolves, things that bump in the night…And three arousing tales of sexual delight.

CATHRYN FOX — Web of Desire

Good witch Ally gets naughty when she discovers her long-lost high school sweetheart caught — literally — in a web of lust and seduction.

MANDY M. ROTH — Solo Tu

When Francy shows up after five years of separation to tell her beloved Dante, a werewolf, that she’s engaged to a vampire, he seduces her with a steamy surprise of his own.

ANYA BAST — Tempted by Two

Not only did Miranda just learn that she’s a half-blood fae, but she’s also got two — two! — deliciously muscular mates. She’d better adjust to all the sexy attention before a vengeful goblin tries to get in on the threesome….

Want a chance to win it? Comment and answer the question below. I’ll draw a winner tomorrow morning. One entry per person, please.

What’s your favorite movie quote?

My answer: Okay, I’ll give you one of my favorite quotes. Can you guess what movie it’s from? “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
